Hormone Therapy FAQ

What is your hormone program? Our hormone program consists of an initial consultation followed by a full Report of Findings (where the results of your tests are explained in detail) and follow up consultations. We will send your hormonal prescriptions to the pharmacy for you. Follow up consultations will occur on an as needed basis. The practitioner will continue to monitor your hormone levels and symptoms, adjust dosages as needed, reevaluate your nutrition, exercise, supplements, and pH levels.

Will I be on hormones for the rest of my life?
Usually not. Our intent is to get your hormones balanced, keep you that way for several years, then gradually decrease the dosages over time, where possible.

What are Bio-Identical hormones? Bio-Identical hormones are derived from plants and have the same chemical structures as the hormones manufactured by our bodies. Drug companies cannot patent a bioidentical structure; therefore, they create "synthetic" hormones. Our hormones are derived from natural sources such as soy and glandular extracts and are made at a compounding pharmacy to our specifications. Drugs such as Synthroid, Levothyroxin, Premarin, and Provera are synthetic and are, in our opinion, toxic to the human body. Bio-Identical hormones are matched to each person's individual needs, which is nearly impossible with the mass-produced synthetic products.

What is the outcome of Hormone Therapy? Bio-Identical Hormone Therapy has an extremely high success rate among women and men from all ages and walks of life. Patients who follow our program experience increased energy, greater mental vitality, and a brighter future emotionally and physically.

Can you utilize existing blood-test results? Yes. Please bring any blood work with you for the initial consultation. If we can use any of those findings, we will not have to duplicate the blood tests. They should be no older than 3 months.

Is there a discount for my family members? Yes, additional immediate family members receive a 15% discount. We realize that once you start feeling the effects of the therapy, it is natural to want to share it with others of your family.

Do you only treat menopausal women? No. We treat all women and men with hormonal imbalances. Common symptoms include weight gain, PMS, osteoporosis, menopause, loss of libido, fatigue, depression, anxiety, etc.

What is covered by my insurance?  Bio-Identical hormones are very inexpensive compared to other patented medicines. The average cost per hormone ranges from $10 to $30 per month. Some insurance companies may cover the blood tests. but we do not bill any insurance. We are not listed as Bio-Identical hormone replacement therapy providers with any insurance companies.

What are we testing for?  A series of tests are run to determine what deficiencies you may or may not have. THe following are just some of the general categories of the metabolic processes we evaluate from our clinical intake and your lab tests:

     (1) Energy Enhancement: Fatigue and stress issues arising from dysfunction of the thyroid and adrenal glands.

     (2) Male and Female Hormones: Imbalances in estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone leading to PMS, menopause, low sex drive, insomnia, polycystic ovaries, depression, menstrual difficulties, infertility, and other areas affected by low hormone levels.

    (3) Metabolism and Diet: Over-acidity of the metabolism, body fat reduction, insulin resistance, dietary changes, exercise modification, and dietary supplementation.

How much does the program cost? Each 30 minute consultation fee is $100.00. A consultation may include review and dosing of medications; nutritional and dietary counseling; individualized, expert exercise instruction; interpretation of any further blood tests; and coordination with compounding pharmacies. You will purchase your hormones from a compounding pharmacy. The cost for these prescriptions and other supplements is additional. We are extremely aware of the fact that lab tests can be very expensive. Therefore, we can either order your labs for a significantly discounted fee or you may want to try doing this through your insurance company.

Rates for similar hormone programs in Las Vegas and Houston range from $3200 to $4700; one Utah clinic begins their fees at $6200. We at Freedom Square Hormone Center feel those rates preclude many from participating in natural hormone therapy.
